Moon Orchid

Orchids are an important part of the cultural DNA in the environment that I grew up in. I’ve fallen deeply for its multidimensional levels and imperfect symmetry that are reminiscent of humanity. Thus, I used an abstract deconstruction to paint out the image of the orchids in my mind.

After experimenting with integrating the phases of the Moon, the first important element of my AURA series was born: the Moon Orchid.

In Moon Orchid, the orchids represent humanity, while the phases of the Moon represent time as well as cracks and fissures. Together, they represent how through the passage of time, a person’s internal mind is subject to the peeping and influence of the outside environment.

For this exhibition, I used mixed pearlescent paint to produce different shines for the Moon Orchid. When light reflects off of the work, different colors are seen depending on viewers’ points of observations, symbolizing the idea that “even when we are situated in the same environment, as long as our angles of observation and methods of reception are different, our minds will be affected differently by the same environment.”

月相蘭花 MOON ORCHIDについて

ランは私が生まれ育った環境における重要な文化的DNAです。私はその、ヒューマニティ同様の多元的レベルと不完全なシンメトリーに深く魅了され、これを抽象的に解釈し、自身の心の中のランのイメージを表現しました。

月の位相との合体を試みた結果、オーラシリーズの最初の重要な要素：「MOON ORCHID 月相蘭花」が誕生しました。

ランに象徴される「ヒューマニティ」、月の相位に象徴される「時間性」、そして「裂け目」は、時間の流れの中で人の心が外側から環境の詮索と影響を受けていることを表しています。

今回の展示作品では、MOON ORCHIDのカラフルな輝きを表現するためにパール塗料を混ぜ合わせて使用しました。光が当たることで、立つ角度によって異なった色が見えます。これは「同じ環境にいても、見方や受け取り方が違えば、環境が心に与える影響も違う」ということを象徴しするものです。
